Everybody in the Carpool

Carpooling is one of the simplest and most effective programs you can offer. It's also one of the most popular with employees. By sharing the ride, employees can share driving expenses, make better time driving together rather than driving alone (thanks to High Occupancy Vehicle lanes) and reduce the number of vehicles in your parking lot.

Using METRO's computerized RideShare Matching Program, we can help your employees find carpool partners within or even outside of your company.

RideShare
RideShare is METRO's free service that uses a computer to match commuters who live and work near each other so that they can form vanpools and carpools. We can help individuals or groups find potential RideShare partners.

An organization can benefit a great deal from using RideShare. Simply provide METRO with a list of people who might be interested in sharing a ride to and from work. Include their home addresses, work hours and daytime telephone numbers. The list could be the name of every employee or group member. RideShare produces a list of people with similar commutes to promote formation of a vanpool or carpool. And, we may be able to place a commuter in an available seat in an existing vanpool or carpool.

The information METRO supplies with our RideShare service includes instructions for finding the Park & Ride lot nearest group members' homes so they have an easy time connecting with their vanpool or carpool partners. Parking at these lots is free.

Vanpools and carpools can use METRO's network of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, effortlessly slipping past the congestion in adjacent freeway main lanes. METRO also will conduct free training seminars for an organization to help members set up a vanpool/carpool.
